Obviously this post is going to be about sunburned lips. I didn’t realize my lips got burned by the sun after the next day I woke up with  sore, irritated lips after I was walking all day in the sun the day before without any protection! I know, NOT GOOD AT ALL! What was I thinking?

So, for the past 3 days I’ve suffered from cracked, dry, painful, burning and itchy lips, especially on the edges. At first I thought this was just a random allergic reaction from something I ate the day before until I looked up my symptoms online.

Instead of licking and scratching my lips, I figured out some remedies to lessen the pain and sores. So if you think you suffer from sunburned lips as well, here are some solutions I’ve put into action for the past few days:

• Drink LOTS & LOTS of water
• Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize your lips with vaseline or my favorite: Rosebud Salve. I’ve realized licking my lips only makes them even more dry and basically draws out all the moisture.
• Use a cold compress or ice cold towels and put them on your lips to cool down the swelling and irritation
• My secret remedy, which I use for my entire body is: Argan Oil from Morocco

It’s a matter of time before my lips and I will feel our normal self again. Now that I’ve experienced this awful pain of sunburned lips, I now know better and will do better next time to prevent this from happening. Not only will I use a sunscreen for my body, but I will make sure to moisture my lips with at least an 15 SPF lip balm.
